CLOSED FOR REGISTRATION.

Motivation is the driving force behind our own and our students‘ learning, and a well-  studied field of research. As teachers, we have the responsibility to help our students learn,  and designing for motivation is one of the more powerful ways of doing this. This half-day  workshop will give a brief theoretical background to the field of motivational studies, but  focus on hand-on activities, and the sharing of experiences and good practices.

Learning outcomes. After the workshop you should be able to:

•use findings from research on motivation to  enhance your teaching
•analyse learning activities from a motivational  standpoint
•design learning activities that stimulate and  motivate students
•discuss different approaches to motivation  based on contextual factors
•deal constructively with less than perfectly  motivated classes

Activities

•Teachers’ and students’ experiences of motivation
•What does research say?
