SHORT DESCRIPTION
|
Our research group focuses on the development of high-performance and environmentally friendly heterogeneous catalysts and electrocatalysts. These are used in particular for electrochemical energy conversion such as in fuel cells, electrolysers and for the CO2 reduction. The focus of this master thesis lies on the electrochemical CO2 reduction for which you will learn how to set-up an electrochemical cell that is coupled to a gas chromatograph and mass spectrometer (GC-MS). This includes setting up the automated gas supply system and coupling the electrochemical cell to a GC-MS system. Besides the work on the setup, your tasks include catalyst preparation, the following catalyst characterization, and the electrochemical evaluation of the catalyst system in different electrochemical cells. With this work you will be able to get a holistic overview in the preparation of catalysts systems, physicochemical and electrochemical evaluation methods, the development of novel catalyst systems and the work with a young and international working group.
